Christmas Box 25 - Recipe of the month

Hey there

I’m Michelle ,  or as most people know me, One Hungry Mumma.

If you’ve found your way here, it means you’ve got your hands on one of our Mumma’s Secret Stash boxes, and that makes you part of something pretty special.

This little “stash” began as a way to share my passion for creating small batch condiments, pickles, sauces, and spice blends made right here in Finch Hatton, QLD, using as much local produce as possible.

For the past nine years, I’ve been crafting and selling my award-winning range of One Hungry Mumma products, all made by hand, in small batches, with love (and a good dose of local flavour). But I wanted to take things one step further.

That’s where Mumma’s Secret Stash was born.  A place where I can get a little creative and make seasonal, one-off products you won’t find anywhere else. Each box is designed to surprise and delight, with exclusive goodies made from what’s fresh, local, and inspiring me in the kitchen right now, along with a few of our favouites.

Each product tells a story , of our region, our growers, and the joy of homemade goodness. But more than that, it’s about connection.

Food connects us, to memories, to people, to place. Whether it’s the smell of something simmering away on the stove or the joy of discovering a new favourite flavour, I want this box to bring that same spark to your kitchen.

So each stash will be a little surprise, something seasonal, something handcrafted, and always something made with heart (and maybe a dash of mischief).

From my kitchen to yours

Thank you for supporting small, local, and handmade. It means the world to me, and it keeps the stove on for the next delicious idea bubbling away in my kitchen.

And if you loved your stash, why not share the joy?
Mumma’s Secret Stash makes the perfect gift  for food lovers, friends, or anyone who deserves a little surprise in their day. Because some things are too good not to share.

Our next box ships on the 11th February.

  • 2 TBS olive oil

  • Salt and Pepper

Dressing

  • ½ cup Whole egg mayo

  • 3 TBS honey wholegrain mustard (One Hungry Mumma of course)
  • 1 TBS Dijon mustard

  • 3 TBS capers

  • Small handful of dill chopped finely

  • 2 small spring onions chopped

  • 100gms of prosciutto

Directions

  1. Slice prosciutto and cook until crispy in a non stick pan with a little olive oil.

  2. Cut potatoes into small quarters or large cubes

  3. Place into a large pot of cold water covering potatoes, add 1 TBS salt and bring to the boil.

  4. Once water has come to the boil reduce to a simmer and cook for approx 8 - 10 minutes or until a skewer just inserts into the potato but does not break it apart.

  5. When potatoes are cooked drain water and add olive oil and a little salt and pepper to taste. Allow to cool.

  6. While potatoes are cooling mix together mayo, mustards, capers, dill and spring onions.

  7. When the potatoes are cold. Dress the potatoes in the mayo mixture and top with crispy prosciutto.

If life gives you pineapples, add rum and call it Christmas!

Featured Local Farmer: Zelenka Pineapples – Alligator Creek & Komala

This Christmas, Mumma’s Secret Stash celebrates one of our region’s true farming treasures: Zelenka Pineapples.

The Zelenka story began at Alligator Creek, where the late Tony Zelenka started the family farm. In 1980, his son John joined him, working side-by-side until 1997 when John and his wife Judy proudly took over the reins. While their roots were in Alligator Creek, the Zelenkas expanded in 1979 to Komala, where their famously sweet pineapples are still grown today.

You’ll find Zelenka pineapples across our region — at local markets, specialty stores, and IGAs from Sarina to Bowen, and sometimes even at the Brisbane fruit markets. But for us here in the Mackay region, they’re more than just pineapples; they’re a symbol of family farming, community spirit, and the incredible produce we’re lucky to call local.

I’ve been using Zelenka pineapples seasonally for the entire nine years of One Hungry Mumma, and if you’ve enjoyed our Pineapple Jam, Hot & Spiky Sauce, or — just for this Christmas Mumma's secret stash box my favouite pineapple product yet! our Pineapple & Rum Ham Glaze, then you’ve already tasted the sweetness of their hard work.

Here’s to John and Judy, and to all the farmers who fill our region, our recipes, and our tables with goodness.

Until next time,
Michelle x
